March 2nd 2011…Party Session Playlists?

Session Time: 32 minutes
Distance Covered: 2.9 miles

Total Time: 6 Hours 12 minutes
Total Distance Covered: 29.5 miles

Well after Monday of this week I was riding high…I’ve completed a marathon distance – it can be done! 🙂

Even better, I had a message from my transatlantic training buddy, Christina Warrior Princess, to say that she had managed to complete her first party session of 2011! WOO HOO! Less than 8 weeks since she had major surgery, with a flurry of interesting complications (including Abcanos, Numb Butt Syndrome and the odd collapsed lung) she is up and raring to go again. Her spirit, determination and fantastic sense of humour continue to inspire me…and make me a little embarrassed about my little struggles over the last couple of weeks if I’m honest.

Mental kick in the butt – if she’s up and partying, I have NO excuse at all!!

So my mental party session team is increasing in numbers (is it odd that I find myself maneuvering on the pavement to make room for them to run beside me??….scratch that actually, I think I’ve just answered my own question…) as I now have a warrior princess to keep me company too.

Side bar – when we’ve been out on our morning jaunts on the surrey streets I’ve noticed a lot of dog walkers around and thought how much more fun it would be to be training with a canine buddy too (not least because they may draw attention from my own panting Labrador impressions!) Now unfortunately I’m not allowed pets in my current living space, so in the interests of upping the ‘fun factor’ I’ve decided to add another member to my virtual training team…we have Tony, we have Joe, we have Christina Warrior Princess…and now we have Sam the Labrador. I think I’m going to need to find a bigger area to train in…!!

Anyway…today’s session was great…not easy, I was still panting away at various points…but another 2.9 miles under my belt and it felt fab! 🙂

So today’s post I want to dedicate to a question that my transatlantic training buddy posed to me….what is on my party session playlist?

Great question!! It’s this music that inspires and motivates me on these sessions, and sometimes results in my half jogging, half lolloping, half dancing down the road!

So for those who want to see my (rather eclectic!) playlist, here it is…

Jai Ho – A. R. Rahman and The Pussycat Dolls …
Killer – Adamski / Seal
Dude (Looks like a lady) – Aerosmith
Smooth Criminal – Alien Ant Farm
10,000 Nights – 70 Alphabeat

Stop the Rock – Apollo Four Forty
My My My – Armand van Helden
Till I come – ATB
Sk8Er Boi – Avril Lavigne

Somebody Told Me – The Killers
Beggin’ – Madcon
Life Is A Highway – Rascal Flatts
Ready To Go – Repbulica
Disturbia – Rihanna
This Is How A Heart Breaks – Rob Thomas

Release – Timbaland ft Justin Timberlake
Simply the Best – Tina Turner
Jump – Van Halen
Come On Girl – Taio Cruz
Gusto Discos Revenge

…and one more which I intend to add to the list today – Firework – Katy Perry 🙂

As you can see, there’s quite a mix here – it’ not all high pace dance tracks which have you reaching for the nearest glow stick – they are generally songs that make me smile, lift my mood or light a fire under me and make me want to push that extra bit more (or distract me from any twinges, aches or panting episodes!)

But there can never be too many party session tracks on any one playlist and I’m always looking for new additions, so the question from me to you is – if you had a party session playlist, what tracks would you absolutely HAVE to have on it?

Another step closer x
